Lloyd’s names Dawn Miller as CCO & CEO of Americas

In her role as Chief Commercial Officer, Dawn will lead the Commercial directorate and continue working with Lloyd’s Global Network

Lloyds, the world’s leading marketplace for insurance and reinsurance has announced the appointment of Dawn Miller as Chief Commercial Officer of Lloyd’s and CEO of Lloyd’s Americas, effective September 1, 2024. Dawn brings a wealth of experience and leadership to these roles, bolstering Lloyd’s commitment to excellence and innovation. 

In her position as Chief Commercial Officer, Dawn will retain her current responsibilities within the Commercial Directorate and will oversee Lloyd’s Global Network. Additionally, she will remain Lloyd’s Executive Committee.

Dawn joined Lloyd’s in 2022 and now oversees Lloyd’s global network across the Americas, Asia Pacific Middle East & Africa (APMEA) and European Regions. She is responsible for Global Network governance, market development, strategic engagement with key trading partners, and New Entrants into the Lloyd's Market. She also leads on Strategy & Innovation at Lloyd’s, including the Lloyd’s Lab.

Dawn has over 25 years of experience working in the global insurance industry with oversight of underwriting, distribution, clients, and strategy, including leadership positions at CHUBB, AXA, AIG and WTW. Having started her career in Washington D.C., Dawn has since taken on senior positions in London, Houston, New York, Paris, Dubai, San Francisco and Zurich.

Dawn is chair of the Board of Trustees for the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation UK (IICF UK), sits on the Steering Committee for Maths4Girls as well as the Executive Council of the International Insurance Society (IIS).

As CEO of Lloyd’s Americas, Dawn will continue developing strategic and sustainable growth initiatives for the region. Her role will include developing closer ties with Bermuda. 

Other reshuffles

After 15 years at Lloyd’s, Hank Watkins, Regional Director & President of Lloyd's Americas, will be leaving Lloyd’s to pursue other opportunities at the end of this year. Hank has been instrumental in helping customers and stakeholders in the region navigate new risks and solutions.

Marc Lipman has been appointed President of Lloyd's Americas, based in Canada, effective from 1 September. Marc joined Lloyd’s as the Attorney in Fact and President of Lloyd’s Canada in June 2020 and under his leadership, Lloyd’s Canadian business has been reinforced with a strong governance foundation, including a robust risk framework and the implementation of IFRS 17.

The appointment of Dawn and Marc to their new roles will strengthen our position to offer current and new stakeholders the best underwriting and investment platform in the world. I would like to thank Hank for his invaluable work over the last 15 years at Lloyd’s.”

We will be able to provide greater support to our large network of stakeholders and market participants based on the region and drive forward our global distribution strategy.”
